Getting away from it all is no longer what it meant in the old days. A few years back, that meant that you can cut yourself off from the rest of civilization because there's nothing to watch on the boob tube. Nowadays, with a whole lot of viewing choices, it's not as good an idea to be so far away with no signal reception. With the change in transmission signals, a house which is off the beaten track can still get good quality signal with a digital TV antenna booster.

What this device does is to amplify or boost the signal received by the receiver, enough for the high def video system to convert the resulting signal to the screen. Otherwise, without such a boost, a weak signal would just result in a blank big screen. And it's not just warranted for a video system in the rural areas, some urban and suburban areas also have weak signals due to interference from nearby buildings.
